Shortly after receiving my bachelor's degree in sociology from San Francisco State University, I packed up and moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Chicago, Illinois. In Chicago, I began to look for a job. A local specialty roastery was searching for someone to pack bags of coffee. Satiating my need for constant motion, I applied, was hired, and the rest is history.

Since then, coffee has become a major part of my life. My knowledge of the specialty coffee industry grew. I learned to taste, brew, evaluate, and eventually roast coffee. I’ve worked in roasteries, cafes, and green coffee sales. I even became a licensed Q Arabica Grader. Working in coffee has taken me all over the US, expanding my horizons while meeting wonderful people!
