Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery was founded by Vanessa and Thomas Tilaka Kalb who met while working at San Francisco’s award-winning restaurant Flour+Water.
They worked at other great establishments under wonderful mentors along the way in SF, plus Chicago and Los Angeles including The Spice Table, Cookbook Market, Octavia and M. Georgina (Vanessa) and Lula Café, Al’s Place, Bar Agricole and Slanted Door Group (Thomas).
In addition to takeout provisions in the cheesery, the restaurant menu is an evolution of family dishes re-imagined, yet still accessible and familiar. The beverage list balances well-known classic wine regions with up-and-coming growers, boutique spirits producers and small breweries. The bar program encompasses thoughtfully crafted cocktails made with seasonal produce, fresh juices and house-made ingredients.
Located in the historic district of tree-lined Green Street, Agnes is housed in the former horse stable of the Pasadena Fire Department built in 1922. The space includes a large secluded outdoor patio in the back, main dining room overlooking the open kitchen’s hearth, bar/lounge and takeaway cheesery with extensive bottle offerings in the front.
Thomas is the Executive Chef at Agnes Restaurant and Cheesery.
