Locala

Cuisine: New American

Location: Los Angeles, CA

LOCALA is the exciting new restaurant recently opened in the stunningly renovated historic Mayfair Hotel. Under the culinary vision Executive Chef Karo Patpatyan, LOCALA features a menu that celebrates the amazing range of cuisine found in Los Angeles, while serving as downtown Los Angeles’ most vibrant new gathering place.

The menu draws upon Chef Patpatyan’s background as the child of Armenian immigrants growing up in Los Angeles dining out nearly every night. It includes twists on beloved street classics as well as LA-infused fine-dining staples.  Signature items include L.A. street corn covered in cotija cheese, chipotle power and chives; Spanish octopus aguachile with young coconut, avocado, cucumber, red onion lime yuzu broth and sumac; Kobe street dog wrapped in bacon and topped with Gruyere cheese served in a mustard seed bun; grilled ribeye with Argentinean chimichurri, arugula salad with Meyer lemon vinaigrette; grilled Carpentaria prawns with white corn salad and salsa macha; and a pork belly bahn mi braised in Vietnamese caramel and topped with cucumbers, pickled carrots and onions on black sesame bread.

Chef Karo Patpatyan

Chef Karo Patpatyan, who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Collage of Culinary Arts-Pasadena, has a fine touch when it comes to fine dining. This seasoned chef spent more than a decade with the famed Wolfgang Puck’s Spago and recently emerged as the executive chef of downtown Los Angeles’ Artisan House last year.

With him, he brought major Californian, Mediterranean influences to the menu at this urban restaurant, bar, and market. Before he manned the helm of Artisan House, which is also known for its promise to sustainable and organic practices, he lent his expertise in menu development and restaurant management as a hospitality banquet chef.
